WESTSIDE WINS 2010 9/10 ALL-STARS WITH A WIN OVER CAMPBELL 11-1
After a scoreless first two innings on some great defense and some fine pitching by Campbells Daniel Ydens and Westsides Chris Brown, Westside erupted for 5 runs in the top of the fifth.
Mikey Souza started the rally with a lead off hit and scored on an rbi by George Ellegood. Westside score the remaining runs on consecutive walks aided by some timely past balls. Westside was able to hold Campbell in the bottom of the 3rd after a nice double play and then added to their lead by scoring 2 additional runs in the top of the 4th on a lead off hit by Max Heverly followed by hits by Chris Boccignone, Tyler Farnham and Ryan Oscherger. After a scoreless bottom of the 4th, an inning which saw Campbells Joshua Mollerus try an extend a nicely hit single into a double, only to be throw out at second base.
Westside added 4 more runs in the top of the 5th on consecutive hits by Ellegood, Boccignone, and Steven Grizzle. With the score 11-0 moving in to the bottom of the inning, and Campbell needing 2 runs to keep the game going, Campbell looked up to the challenge as they were able to score a run on a series of hits by Austin Tremelling, Jarrett English, and the rbi single by Jacob Cesario-Garland. With two outs and two runners on, Westside was able to record the final out and take the victory.
It was a nicely played game by both sides and they should keep their heads high. Campbell, whose league has a team in all three Championship games, should be proud of their efforts in rallying thru the brackets to reach the Championship game. Westside, who didn’t loose a game the entire tournament, should be proud of their accomplishment. Good luck to Westside as they will continue play in the Sectional tournament which will be hosted by San Jose’s District 59.
Congrats to Westside Minor Astros for winning the 2010 Minor TOC Championship.
Down 5-3 in and down to their last strike, the Astros come back with a 6-5 win over Briarwood Little League. A great game by both teams.

WESTSIDE 9/10 FINISHES ALL-STAR SEASON AS SECTION 5 RUNNER-UPS
Congratulations to the 9/10 All-Stars. After dropping the first game of the Section 5 tournament last Saturday, Westside won their next 3 games in the last three days to make it to the Section 5 Championship where they lost to a very good Hollister National Little League 9-2 on Wednesday. The 9/10 All-Star team finished the post season with a 8-2 record, their 4th straight District 44 championship and got into the leagues 3rd straight Section 5 title game. A great job by all the players and coaches for getting this far this post-season.
